Aashika Jain assumes charge as Deputy Commissioner
Priorities to contain drug abuse, speed up development projects as well as dealing corrupt practices with iron hand

Hoshiarpur, February 25 (CDT NEWS): Aashika Jain, a 2015 batch IAS officer, today assumed the charge as Deputy Commissioner here at District Administrative Complex.
Aashika Jain said that containing drug abuse, accelerating the pace of ongoing and upcoming development works, ensuring time-bound delivery of public services would remain her priorities besides taking stringent action against corrupt practices. She also said that the indiscipline in government offices would not be tolerated.
A police contingent gave guard of honour on her arrival at complex while the senior officials welcomed by presenting bouquets. Deputy Commissioner also held a meeting with SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik and other officials to get information about projects and public issues related with the districts. She also emphasised that citizen services should be provided well within the stipulated time frame to people besides giving priority to address the public concerns. She pointed out that regular review would be carried out to check the performances of different government offices in the district.
Immediately after taking charge Deputy Commissioner accompanied by the SSP and other officials visited the District Drug De-Addiction & Rehabilitation Centre. She also interacted with the patients and assured them that Punjab Government and District Administration was fully committed to bring them to mainstream. She said that skill development measures would be enhanced so as to enable them to run their own skilled ventures. She also solicited valuable suggestions from the youngsters under drug trap so as to take further steps for eradication of drugs.
Referring to the capacity of centre, Aashika Jain said that the current capacity was of 60 bedded, which was also under consideration to enhance the same. SSP Sandeep Kumar Malik stressed that the regular follow up should be taken by the staff on the treatment given to the youngsters.
Pertinently, Aashika Jain has served as Deputy Commissioner Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar previously. Earlier she also served as Joint Commissioner Jalandhar Municipal Corporation followed by Additional Deputy Commissioner SAS Nagar and Commissioner Municipal Corporation Hoshiarpur besides Additional Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar.
